Welcome to Oakley’s Spectrum Scribbles. I’m Emily, wife to Logan and mom to our incredible daughter, Oakley.
Oakley is 4 years old and was diagnosed with level 2 autism and global developmental delay. She is bright, brave, curious, funny, and deeply loved. Every day, she teaches us new ways to see the world and reminds us what resilience truly looks like.
This blog is a space where I share our family’s journey honestly, openly, and with a whole lot of heart. From therapy sessions to school days, from big emotions to beautiful milestones, we’re figuring this out one day at a time.
We created Oakley’s Spectrum Scribbles for a few reasons:
To celebrate the small wins that feel like giant victories.
To process the hard moments that come with parenting a neurodivergent child.
To connect with other families walking similar paths, and to help anyone feeling alone know they’re not.
To offer a window into what autism can look like, not as a label, but through the lived experience of one little girl and those who love her.
Whether you’re a fellow parent, a friend, a relative, or someone hoping to learn more about autism, we’re grateful you’re here. We don’t have all the answers, but we do have a lot of love, a lot of hope, and a story worth sharing.
Thanks for being part of Oakley’s world.
With love,
Emily
